******MISSION ALAMO III******

This year was our THIRD year to travel to Alamo, Texas (near McAllen) and work with our very good friends at Primera Iglesia Bautista... What a SUPER Summer we had with them, beginning first in Alamo, then coming to San Antonio!!

This year was especially great because the Primera Youth really were prepared with the material, and our kids lead the classes while their youth helped and taught some of the lessons.  Two weeks later, the two groups met again to work, but this time it was in San Antonio's Southside at Emmanuel Baptist Church. There, the PIB youth lead the groups, and Reflections supported and help them to do it!

Their Pastor and his wife, Alvaro & Margie Corrales, are from Costa Rica with student visas while leading this congregation... and they have a great heart for Hispanic people in the valley, US citiziens or not. The first Summer with much work by the Corrales' and their youth, we rounded up over 100 children for our Daycamp, last year... we had 168 children with 36 decisions.  This year, we had 80 children to come back, many of whom were the same ones who made decisions last year.

This was the first year that we stayed in hotel rooms rather than the Valley Baptist Retreat Center, basically due to the schedule and the short week.  But, even though the numbers were designed to be 'down' this year because it was a training VBS for us to spend time with the PIB youth.  If you are reading this, please pray for the Primera Iglesia Bautista congregation as they look to find another place to meet and worship.  The small building they have been meeting in (lower left) just can't hold them anymore.

Thanks to a fantastic group of 8th graders for their leadership this past year, most of whom are pictured here, especially our VP Kyle Rogers below.  Special thanks to Rebecca Creel (above on the far right) for the pictures... we miss you!!
